Section 16: Acquiring minimum qualification

(1) The State Government shall provide adequate teacher education facilities to ensure that all teachers in schools referred to in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) of clause (n) of section 2, who do not possess the minimum qualifications; as laid down by the academic authority authorised by the Central Government at the time of commencement of the Act, to acquire such minimum qualifications within a period of five years from the commencement of the Act.

(2) For a teacher, of any school referred to in sub-clause (iv) of clause (n) of section 2, who does not possess the minimum qualifications as laid down by the academic authority authorised by the Central Government at the time of commencement of the Act, the management of such school shall enable such teacher to acquire such minimum qualifications within a period of five years from the commencement of the Act.
