(1) These rules may be called theTamiI Nadu (Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution). Rules, 1983,
(2)'They shall come into force at once.
I 2. Definitions :- In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires - ‘
(a) "Act" means the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution)Act, 1974(Central Act 6 of 1974):
(b) "Board“ means .the Tamil Nadu'Pollution Control Board constituted under Section 4; I . (0) "Chairman" means the Chairmanof the Board; - 2 The T.N. Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Rules, 1983 m (d). "Committee" means a committee constituted under sub-section(1) of Section 9.‘ ‘ ‘
(e) "Form" means a Form set out in 'Schedulel;
(f) "Government" means the Government of Tamil Nadu;
(g) "meeting" means 'a' meeting of the Board;
(h) "Member" means a-Jnember of the Board and includes the Chairman thereof; '
(i) "Member-Secretary“ means the member -secretary' of the Board;
(j) "Schedule" means a Schedule appended to these rules; _
(k) "Section" means a section of the Act, (I) "State Board Laboratory" means a laboratory established or recognisedas such under sub—section(2) of Section 17;

(m) "State Water Laboratory" means a laboratory established or specified as such under sub-section(1) of (Section 52; . ' ' (n) "Year" means thefinancial Year. , .
