Section 3: Norms for classification of Town Panchayats

The Town Panchayats shall be classified on the basis of average annual income as indicated in the Table below:— THE TABLE Grade Average Annual Income

(1) (2) Grade II Not exceeding Rs.50 lakhs.

Grade I Exceeding Rs.50 lakhs but not exceeding Rs.100 lakhs Selection Grade Exceeding Rs.100 lakhs but not exceeding Rs.200 lakhs Special Grade Exceeding Rs.200 lakhs

Provided that the grade of any Town Panchayat on the date of coming into force of these rules shall not be downgraded:

Provided further that the classification of Town Panchayats shall be reviewed in every five years and shall be reclassified based on the norms prescribed above.
