Section 5: Appointment of Inspector

The Tripura Agricultural Workers Act,1986State Act of Tripura · Act 9 of 1986

(1) The Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint— 4a) such officers, or such person .as possess, the prescribed qualification, as they think fit, to be Inspectors for the purposes of this Act and, define the local limits within which they shall exercise their’ powers.

(2) Subject to rules made in this behalf, an Inspector may, within the local limits for which he is appointed,—

(a) enter, at any time after sunrise and before sunset with such assistants, being persons in the service of the Government or any local or other public authority, as he thinks fit, prémises or places _ where agricultural workers are employed or where he has reasons to believe that records are Kept, for the prupose of examining any register or record of wages required to be kept under this Act ‘or the rule made thereunder and require the production thereof for inspection ;

(b) examine any person who he finds in any such premises or place and whom he has resonable cause to belizve to be an agricultural worker ;

(c). seize or take copies of such register or record or portions thereof as he may consider relevant in respect of an offerice under this Act which he has reason to believe has been committed by a landowner ; and

(d) exercise such other powers as may be prescribed,.

(3) Until Inspectors are appointed under this Act the - Inspectors appointed under the Minimum Wages. Act (Central Act II of 1948), shall be deemed to be Inspectors appointed under this Act for the area in which they exercise jurisdiction under the said Act.
