Section 11: Licence required for manufacture

The Tripura Excise Act, 1987State Act of Tripura · Act 12 of 1987

(a) No intoxicant shall be manufactured,

(b) no hemp plant (Cannabis Sativa) shall be cultivated.

(c) no portion of the hemp plant (Cannabis Sativa) from which an intoxicating drug can be manufactured or produced shall be collected,

(d) no liquor shall be bottled for sale,

(e) no distillery or brewery shall be worked, and

(f) no person shall use, keep or. have in his possession any materials, still, utensil, implement or apparatus whatsoever for the purpose of manufacturing any intoxicant other than tari except under the authority and subject to the terms and conditions of a license granted in that behalf by the Collector :

Provided that any tari producing tree may be tapped and tari may be drawn from any tree, without a license under this section by the person in possession of the tree, for the purpose of being used solely in the manufacture of gur or molasses, or for the purpose of being used for the preparation of food for domestic 9 consumption not exceeding a limit of four litres.
