Section 10: The Chancellor

10. (1) The Chancellor shall be nominated by the State Government.

(2) The Chancellor shall, by virtue of his office, be the head of the University.

(3) The term of office of the Chancellor shall be three years or such longer period as may be notified by the State Government.

(4) The Chancellor shall have such powers as may be conferred on him by this Act or the rules made thereunder.

(5) Every proposal for the conferment of an honorary degree or distinction shall be subject to the confirmation of the Chancellor.

(6) The Chancellor shall, if present, preside at the convocation of the University held for conferring degrees and may delegate to any officer of the University such of his powers as he may consider necessary.
