Section 2: Definitions

Uttar Pradesh Panchayat Raj (Oath of Pradhan, Up-Pradhan, Panch, Sarpanch, Assistant Sarpanch and Member of Gram Panchayat) Rules, 1994State Rules of Uttar Pradesh · 1947

In these rules, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context,—

(a) ‘Act’ means the United Provinces Panchayat Raj Act, 1947;

(b) “Pradhan’ means a person elected as Pradhan of a Gram Panchayat under Section 11-B of the Act;

(c) ‘Up-Pradhan’ means a person elected as Up-Pradhan of Gram Panchayat under Section 11-C of the Act;

(d) "Member’ means a person elected as member of a Gram Panchayat under sub-section (2) of Section 12 of the Act;

(¢) “Panch’ means a person appointed as Panch of a Nyaya Panchayat under Section 43 or Section 50 of the Act; :

(f) “Sarpanch’ or *Sahayak Sarpanch’ means a person elected as Sarpanch or Sahayak Sarpanch, as the case may be, under Section 44 or Section 50 of the Act.
