25. Subject to the provisions of this Act and the regulations, made thereunder, the powers and the functions of the Academic Council shall be,-
(a) to exercise control over the academic policies of the University and be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of standards of instruction, education and evaluation in the University;
(b) to consider matters of general academic interest either on its own initiative or on a reference from the faculty of the University or the Board and to take appropriate action thereon;
(c) to recommend to the Board, such regulations as are consistent with this Act regarding the academic functioning of the University including discipline of students; and
(d) to exercise such other powers and perform such other duties as may be conferred or imposed upon it by the regulations.
