Section 3: Establishment of the Institute

Sanjay Gandhi Postgradute Institute of Medical Sciences Act 1983State Act of Uttar Pradesh · Act 30 of 1983

(1) With effect from such date, as the State Government may notify in this behalf, there shall be established at Lucknow an Institute of Medical Sciences, to be known as the Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow.

(2) The Institute shall be a body corporate and shall function as a University established under a State Act.

[ (3) the institute may, if it considers expedient, develop satellite Institutes at other places in addition to the Institute established at Lucknow and may take such action as it may consider necessary for the conduct of business of such satellite Institute in furtherance of the objects of the Institute.]
