Section 12

The North Bengal University Act, 1961State Act of West Bengal · Act 27 of 1961

(1) If a casual vacancy arises by reason of any member appointed under clause (vi), clause (viii) or clause

(di) of sub-section (1) of section 8 having,—

(a) refused to serve as a member, or

(b) died, or

(a) resigned his office as a member, or

(d) ceased to be a member under the proviso to subsection (4) of section 8, or

(e) been removed from his office as a member under sub-section (2) of section 11, the Chancellor shall appoint a person with the requisite qualifications to fill the vacancy.

(2) A person appointed under sub-section (1) to fill a casual vacancy shall, subject to the provisions of the proviso to sub-section (4) of section 8, hold office as a member for a period of two years from the date of his appointment as a member.

(3) If a casual vacancy arises in the seat of any member elected under clause (ix) or clause (x) of sub-section (1) of section 8 for any of the reasons referred to in clauses (a),

(b), (c), (d) or (e) of sub-section (1), such vacancy shall be filled by a person having the requisite qualifications to be elected by the body and in the manner referred to in clause

(ix) or clause (x) as the case may be.

(4) Any person elected under sub-section (3) to fill a casual vacancy shall, subject to the provisions of the proviso to sub-section (4) of section 8, hold office as a member for the unexpired period of the term of office of the member in whose place he is so elected.

13. CHAPTER III.

THE OFFICES OF THE "UNIVERSITY.

14. The offices of the University shall be located at Moss of eiliguri but the University may maintain such offices as the MSvu` sity. it deems fit at any other place.
