(1) The Committee shall meet at least once in every quarter.
(2) The Committee shall review the Action Plan i.e. the physical and financial progress of the sanctioned schemes.
(3) The Committee shall ensure maintenance of accounts of in accordance with the rules.
(4) The proposals and Action Plan shall be placed before the State Road Safety Council for the information of the Council.
Duties of the Committee.
10. The schemes relating to the following shall be financed from the budget, namely:-
(a) Road safety measures:-
(i) to install and maintain mandatory/regulatory, cautionary and informative road signboards, various traffic signals, signages as per immediate local needs, in the interest of public safety, where it is not possible for other departments to install/maintain;
(ii) to set up “Road Accident Data Base Management System” for gathering data related to road accidents and for making analysis of road accidents data to enable in making policies to control road accidents;
(iii) to take corrective/reformatory measures after studying the causes of road accidents;
(iv) to identify accident prone places;
(v) to purchase and maintain ambulances, other accessories, salary of driver, para-medic staff and expenditure on fuel etc. of the ambulances utilized to provide immediate medical relief to persons injured in accidents;
(vi) to reimburse expenditure incurred on the transportation of the injured persons in road accidents to hospitals;
(vii) to purchase and maintain equipments for traffic management and road safety including cranes and weighing machines/weigh bridges;
(viii) to set up driving training schools and driving test tracks for strengthening the driving license system;
(ix) to set up certification centers for checking fitness of vehicles and issuance of certificate of fitness;
(x) to provide Mobile Testing Equipments for checking of vehicles;
Schemes to be financed.

(xi) to set up check posts, install weigh bridges and maintain parking areas for impounded vehicles;
(xii) to undertake any other work related to road safety measures and traffic management which the Committee deems proper and useful.
(b) Traffic Education:-
(i) to establish traffic education parks;
(ii) to make wide publicity of traffic rules;
(iii) to organize competitions for imparting knowledge of traffic rules and building awareness about road safety among students and general public;
(iv) to prepare publicity material related to traffic management and road safety;
(v) to purchase and maintain equipments related to traffic education;
(vi) to purchase publicity vans equipped with audio-video equipments, computers and other accessories and to utilize them to impart traffic education to public at large;
(vii) to organize road safety exhibitions;
(viii) to organize seminars, workshops, meetings, rallies, competitions and other such programmes related to road safety;
(ix) to organize traffic related training for different ranks of officers/staff of police, transport and Local Bodies Departments;
(x) to conduct studies to improve traffic management for controlling road accidents.
(c) Traffic Enforcement:-
(i) to purchase, operate and maintain modern traffic enforcement equipments;
(ii) to purchase and maintain the vehicles.
