Section 3: Operation and maintenance of public lights

(1)The existing public lighting infrastructure in working condition along with AMC and warranty of lights shall be handed over by other Government Departments and Government Corporations to the Department within the period specified in section 7 of the Act. The bills of the AMC contractors as on the date of such handing over shall be settled by the concerned Government Department or Government Corporation and no dues certificate in respect of the Annual Maintenance Charges (AMC) shall be submitted to the Department by the concerned Department/Corporation.

(2) Maintenance and switching ON/OFF of all streetlights shall be looked after by the Department, however, facade illumination of temples, churches, mosques and their outskirt shall be looked after by the Government department/corporation concerned.
