Save as otherwise expressly provided in this Act, any person who contravenes any of the provisions of this Act or any rule made thereunder shall, on conviction [by a Labour Court or the Industrial Court,] be punished with fine which may extend to [five lakhs rupees], and in case of continued contravention thereof, with an additional fine which may extend to [five thousand rupees] per day for every day during which such contravention continues.
